Warrior 101: Happenings within BCS Classrooms – Hat Day

On Thursday mornings, one can hear laughter and see many smiles as elementary staff and students, preschool through fifth grades, line up at Mrs. Henderson’s door, with $1 in hand, anxiously awaiting to pay for the privilege of wearing a hat for the day. The $1 has much more meaning though than getting to wear a hat for the day.  The donation goes toward the monthly sponsoring of a child from One Child Matters, Tsion Abrham, from Ethiopia. Now, with so much generosity being displayed, we will also be able to purchase items to directly benefit Peruvian orphans at the New Life Children’s Home in Lima, Peru, where secondary students will have the opportunity to go on mission again this school year in March. In only three weeks, elementary students and staff alone have raised $252! Last year, through students giving to the Pennies for Peru project, backpacks, school supplies, sunscreen, children’s Tylenol and Ibuprofen, balls, and other items were gifted to the children, who are awaiting to be adopted.  Students and staff are directly applying the Biblical concept discussed in a previous chapel of “We need to put others first, just as Christ did.”   May God get all the glory!
