Warrior 101: Happenings within BCS Classrooms – We Celebrate God’s Warriors at BCS!

by Felicia Henderson

On Wednesday, January 22, our kindergarten through fifth grade students, staff, and families had a special WARRIORS Celebration chapel service.  We celebrated God and how He is faithful to us as we continue to DISCOVER our God-given gifts and talents, we PURSUE a life of excellence in Jesus Christ, and we IMPACT the world for Him. God is continuing to guide us as we grow in our student expected outcomes as we follow our school’s mission:  Spiritual Growth, Academic Excellence, and Citizenship.
Students led in worship through songs, a skit, and a cheer. Directly after, we celebrated students who earned awards for exhibiting traits of being W.A.R.R.I.O.R.S. during our second quarter:
Word of God is our Standard………………..Ben Rehklau
Achievement of Excellence is our Goal….Parker TenHarmsel
Rooted in Christ…………………………………Colston Barnes
Raising the Bar…………………………………..Easton Reffit
Investing in the Lives of Others……………Sarah Wyrick
Ordinary Is Not in our Vocabulary………..Jeremiah McDermott
Recognizing God’s Presence and Power..Silas Reno
Spirit Drive………………………………………..Avery Biel & Jayla Cattarin
Our elementary students are assessed through the annual TerraNova (this year it will change to IOWA), and during the fall, winter, and spring through FastBridge and Star Reading. Recently, our students were assessed using the Star Reading Assessment. Our goal is that students demonstrate 50% or more growth, but these 2nd through 4th grade students grew phenomenally by growing 96% or higher:  Tim Barndt, Jack Elkin, Klaire French, Jack Kliewer, Harper Recanati, Avery Biel, Eliana Cooper, Jackson Penwell, and Ben Rehklau. We are so proud of our students and are thankful to God for all He is doing in and through our families, students, and staff at BCS!
